Here are some opportunities to think about for the summer and beyond. Many of these programs have deadlines in February and early March, so apply NOW!

  This is free, but transportation there and back is up to the student.
• University of Maryland – Women in Engineering

  The program costs $550 plus the cost of metro there and back.
• Howard: Upward Bound Math and Science: http://www.howard.edu/schooleducation/Programs/Trio/MathSci.html
• GEMS: http://www.usaeop.com/programs/GEMS/locations.htm
  This is a free program in DC in which students work in a lab at Walter Reed. There are several levels. If you haven’t done GEMS before, apply for Level 1.
  Deadline: There is no fixed deadline, but earlier is better.
